Very interesting take by the media. I know a few of the people listed and have great respect for several others. The media, however, interprets our power in terms of political clout and marketing machines. WWJS (what would Jesus say?)
Here is one comment from a good friend (and highly positioned government official); "The list represented everything that is sad about American Evangelicalism; all that money and power but, it is a movement that is limited to and mostly defined by it's proximity to political, not economic, academic, artistic or cultural power. I find it rather amazing; no culural icons, well-know TVanchors, university Presidents... We are a movement of led by preachers, which is why it remains so marginal."
This is from a person who is involved neck high in community rebuilding and has given his life to serving through government. However, his point - and a very good one - the church has become one dimensional - a lobby group and a market segment.
